The majority of people with significant liver diseases do not have any specific symptoms.  Or more accurately, often suffer with abdominal pain, fatigue or other gastrointestinal symptoms that may be overlooked or put down to another condition. 

There are many diseases that primarily affect the liver and the liver can also be affected in other conditions such as diabetes and by common drugs such as statins.
